The MPH program specializing in Health Behavior examines how behavioral, social, and cultural elements influence individual and community health outcomes, including health inequities. Our curriculum focuses on community-driven research approaches and implementing discoveries using diverse behavioral and social science methods for health improvement. Coursework is structured to be dynamic, participatory, and directly applicable to contemporary health behavior challenges.

Students may choose to pursue this degree entirely through online learning or traditional on-campus instruction.

Participants in our program develop expertise in:

utilizing social and behavioral theories to tackle public health concerns,
creating scientifically validated health initiatives and illness prevention strategies,
implementing evaluation techniques for health programs,
adhering to ethical guidelines in public health research and application, and

Qualification Requirements

Official transcripts: Provide official transcripts from every college-level institution attended. If you have completed coursework outside the United States, you must also provide a course-by-course foreign college transcript evaluation from any NACES accredited evaluation company.

Letters of recommendation: Submit three letters of recommendation from academic or professional references. For specific programs, please note:
MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health applicants are highly recommended to submit at least one academic letter among the three recommendation letters required.
MSPH in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences applicants are required to submit at least one academic letter among the three recommendation letters required. Friends and family members should not write letters.
MSPH in Industrial Hygiene applicants are required to submit at least one academic letter among the three recommendation letters required. If applicants have been working in the field for more than five years, professional letters are acceptable in place of academic letters. If unable to provide an academic letter, please provide a justification (one paragraph) in the statement of purpose.

However, if an applicant has fewer than five years of full-time professional health care/public health practice experience AND a GPA below 3.0, we strongly encourage that applicant to submit a GRE score with their application.
