Neuroscience explores the body's nervous system, examining how the brain communicates information across the body. Earning a degree in this field can pave the way for careers in academic or government research, medicine, biotechnology, and various health-related professions.
This interdisciplinary program, jointly offered by the School of Medicine's Department of Neurobiology and the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Psychology, provides a broad curriculum covering biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, psychology, and neurobiology. Additionally, it fulfills many prerequisite courses for medical school or other healthcare careers. Students can also pursue a general science teaching certification via UABTeach and engage in collaborative research projects with faculty members.
