The Educational Leadership, Policy, and Technology Studies Department aims to develop principled, thoughtful professionals, researchers, and academics for roles in K12 schools, universities, and other learning environments. Through instruction and community engagement, the department works to foster the principles, understanding, and competencies necessary to enhance education locally and regionally while contributing to national research through faculty and student scholarship. Effective leadership demands comprehension of curriculum design, teaching methods, supervision, and administration, coupled with recognition of education's evolving social, political, legal, ethical, and economic landscapes. Aligned with the College's guiding principles, departmental programs tackle these demands by focusing on student and community needs, subject mastery and teaching skills, technological tools and evaluation methods, cooperative learning and continuous development, and democratic values with inclusive practices. We value diversity, celebrate uniqueness, and advocate for equitable treatment. The department additionally facilitates continuous discussions about educational advancement through partnerships with federal, state, and local education authorities and professional associations.
