The Psychology Department's core mission is to foster independent academic inquiry while ensuring proficiency in psychology's foundational principles and specialized disciplines. We prepare students to become research-oriented psychologists and practitioner-scholars through comprehensive research training, diverse academic coursework, teaching experiences, and practical applications.
Our social psychology program aims to equip graduates for both academic careers and real-world applications. Research focuses span multiple domains including attitude formation, emotional processes, motivational systems, self-regulation mechanisms, social perception, neurosocial studies, clinical-social intersections, socioemotional growth, health prevention strategies, cognitive-emotional dynamics, and intervention assessment.
Throughout their studies, each student collaborates closely with a faculty advisor who guides their research development. The curriculum provides extensive psychological foundations, rigorous methodological and statistical training, plus specialized social psychology courses. Participants engage in weekly research colloquiums and receive structured mentorship in university-level instruction.
