Those enrolling in the microbiology program generally have a passion for science, environmental studies, or healthcare fields. Ideal high school preparation involves strong math skills and foundational courses in biology and/or chemistry.
The Biological Sciences Honors Program welcomes biology and microbiology majors who have completed 16 credit hours of biological science courses while maintaining a minimum 3.4 GPA both overall and in BSC coursework. Applicants must submit materials to the undergraduate program coordinator for consideration. Program obligations consist of: completing four to eight credit hours of BSC 390 Honors Thesis Research, sustaining a 3.4 GPA in BSC courses and overall, plus developing and defending an approved honors thesis.
