Introductory acting classes focus on developing a unique, self-assured stage presence. Higher-level courses cover Greek Drama, Shakespeare, Molière, European Realism, Classic Comedy (featuring Wilde and Coward), On-Camera Acting, Modern Theater Techniques, and Theater Careers.
Acting training is complemented by rigorous Movement and Voice instruction. Advanced movement classes explore Clowning, Mask Performance, Stage Fighting, Suzuki Method, Contact Improvisation, Physical Character Development, Tai Chi, and Martial Arts.
Advanced voice training delves into Fitzmaurice (destructuring/restructuring), Linklater, Rodenberg, Berry, and Lessac methods, along with phonetics (IPA), theatrical accents, character archetypes, and emotional expression techniques. Numerous alumni enter professional fields, with the department actively supporting this shift via internships, connecting standout students with local theater/film opportunities, and the New York Showcase - where students have gained representation from AEA/SAG agents and attention from top casting directors.
