While a background in theater, music, or art is beneficial for theater majors, it's not mandatory for success. Performance experience can be gained through diverse avenues like high school productions, musical performances, church plays, or community theater involvement.
The Department of Theatre and Dance provides multiple BA degree specializations, including acting, musical theater, arts management, technical production, and costume design. Students should consult with the principal advisor in their chosen field for recommended coursework.
Ambitious students aiming for professional careers or graduate studies may opt to complete more than the standard 36 credit hours in their major. While exceeding 42 credit hours will surpass the 120-credit graduation requirement, this intensive approach is highly recommended though not compulsory.
