The Master of Science (M.S.) in Civil Engineering equips students with specialized knowledge and technical expertise to gain profound insights into civil engineering principles.
This program features both thesis and non-thesis tracks. The thesis path involves completing 24 credit hours of graduate coursework plus 6 credit hours dedicated to thesis research, culminating in an oral defense.
The non-thesis alternative requires 30 credit hours of coursework. Students without previous civil engineering degrees must complete preparatory bridge courses, extending their program duration by approximately six months compared to those entering with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Typically, earning this master's degree takes two years following undergraduate studies.
M.S. in Civil Engineering candidates can focus their studies on environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, water resources and hydraulic systems, or transportation engineering.
