AYA educators enhance student learning by exploring subjects more thoroughly than in middle and secondary schools while broadening their global awareness. The core program blends theoretical knowledge with practical application to ready candidates for certification. The AYA Education curriculum mandates specialization in one teaching discipline: Integrated Language Arts, Integrated Social Studies, Integrated Mathematics, or Science.
Before student teaching, candidates complete a minimum of 100 hours of field experiences across diverse educational environments.
The capstone of teacher preparation involves supervised student teaching, guided by both university faculty and experienced classroom educators.
An Adolescent to Young Adult degree prepares graduates to teach in middle and high schools while allowing specialization in preferred subjects like mathematics, science, social studies, or language arts.
