AYA educators enhance student learning by exploring subjects more thoroughly than in middle and secondary schools, while broadening their global awareness. The core program blends academic concepts with hands-on training to qualify for teaching certification. The AYA Education curriculum mandates specialization in one discipline: Integrated Language Arts, Integrated Social Studies, Integrated Mathematics, or Science.
Before student teaching, candidates complete over 100 hours of fieldwork across diverse educational environments.
The teacher preparation program culminates with a supervised student teaching placement, mentored by both university faculty and experienced classroom teachers.
An Adolescent to Young Adult degree prepares graduates to teach in middle and high schools while allowing specialization in preferred subjects like mathematics, science, social studies, or language arts.
