The Department of Biomedical Engineering provides graduate programs culminating in a Master of Science (MS) degree, administered by the Graduate Division of the School of Science and Engineering. Students holding bachelor's degrees from institutions other than Tulane BME can pursue a standard non-thesis MS option.
To earn a non-thesis Master of Science (MS) degree through the Graduate Division, candidates must complete 30 semester hours of approved graduate-level courses while meeting specific distribution requirements (detailed below). Typically, students receiving teaching or research assistantships cannot use the Master's as their final degree. PhD candidates who have accumulated 30 semester hours of graduate credit and successfully defended their research proposal may apply to the Department for a non-thesis MS degree.
