Most students choosing to major in Geography and Land Surveying will first earn an A.A.S. degree in Engineering Technology with a Land Surveying focus at CCBC-Catonsville before transferring to Towson University. This 64-credit program's specifics are available on CCBC's website. While all surveying course credits transfer, Towson University caps transfer credits at 64. Remaining Core Curriculum requirements must be completed at Towson. Current Towson Geography majors exploring this option should consult the department chair.
The curriculum aligns with Geography and Environmental Planning major requirements, except for using GEOG 375 to satisfy the methods component. Students need 39 total credits (GEOG 101 counts toward the A.A.S. degree). GEOG 423 is the recommended regional course. Advisors should help select at least 21 elective credits to enhance surveying skills. GEOG 491 is highly advised for students lacking professional experience. Neither previous employment nor current jobs can substitute for internship requirements without departmental approval.
