Cytotechnologists specialize in examining and analyzing human cells collected from various organs and bodily fluids. These professionals possess the expertise to identify and assess characteristics indicative of both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions, such as malignancies, infections, and autoimmune diseases. Beyond their proficiency in microscopic analysis of cytological samples, cytotechnologists also choose and conduct molecular and immunological tests essential for tailoring individualized patient treatment plans.
Clinical practicums form the hands-on training component of our programs. Both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science students undergo four distinct placements in clinical and research settings at renowned hospitals, clinics, and laboratories within and beyond the tri-state region. Practicums may take place in commercial labs, community hospital and medical center facilities, biotech and pharmaceutical industry labs, or academic research environments. Medical laboratory, cytotechnology, and biotechnology training demands practical experience, which is why we emphasize hands-on learning. Our students gain extensive exposure to cutting-edge equipment and analytical techniques, develop proficiency in diverse laboratory procedures, and immerse themselves in the daily operations of a working lab.
