The Bachelor of Science in Textile Product Science (TPS) equips students for careers in the dynamic global textile sector, covering specialized fiber products for medical, geotextile, and architectural uses, composite materials, high-performance textiles, home furnishings, and textile commerce.
The TPS curriculum includes thirteen (13) foundational textile courses that define the major. Students experience the program's interdisciplinary approach by choosing one of three 9-course concentrations: Sports & High Performance Materials, Fashion Management, or Commerce. These specializations utilize the cutting-edge Bruner Materials Characterization Laboratory, an on-campus facility with comprehensive textile testing and performance evaluation capabilities.
Each concentration offers a pathway to a specific Master of Science program for those pursuing graduate studies. The Sports & High Performance track leads to an MS in Textile Technology, while Fashion Management connects to an MS in Fashion Merchandising & Management. The Commerce specialization provides excellent preparation for an MBA. Prospective graduate students should consult their advisors about these advanced degree options.
TPS education combines intensive theoretical study with hands-on application, fostering innovative research and practical problem-solving. Collaborative projects with industry partners, including competitions and internships, enhance the learning experience. Graduates emerge as well-rounded professionals with both technical expertise and interpersonal skills, prepared for successful careers, further education, and leadership roles in the evolving textile industry.
