The Professional Science Master's (P.S.M.) is a two-year graduate program tailored for working professionals seeking advanced education while enhancing their business competencies. This degree prepares graduates for careers in both public and private sectors, featuring two specialization tracks: (1) Natural Resource Management through the Department of Natural Resources Management and (2) Ecology and Environmental Sustainability offered by the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences. The curriculum includes 15-19 credit hours of core requirements (with either a 6-credit internship or 3-credit capstone project) plus 15 elective credits. Students must also complete online professional development modules covering topics like business economics, professional ethics, interview techniques, personnel management, conflict resolution, and teamwork. Applicants lacking sufficient academic background may need to complete preparatory coursework. Unlike traditional M.S. programs, this primarily online P.S.M. substitutes thesis research with practical internship or capstone components, making it ideal for environmental professionals advancing their careers.
