The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (M.S.I.E.), Master of Science in Systems and Engineering Management (M.S.SYEM), and Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering (M.S.Mfg.E.), along with the Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy in Systems and Engineering Management programs, equip students to become skilled industrial engineers and engineering managers for careers in industry, consulting, academia, and research.
Under the guidance of a graduate advisor, students create customized study plans. The master's programs offer two paths: (1) a 30-credit thesis track, which includes 6 thesis research credits, and (2) a 30-credit non-thesis alternative. Coursework may incorporate a minor field and up to six credits from outside industrial engineering. The doctoral program mandates at least 60 credits beyond the bachelor's degree, with up to 15 credits possible for IE 7000 (Research). Students may also complete up to 15 credits in a minor field outside industrial engineering. Doctoral candidates must enroll in at least 12 credits of dissertation research (IE 8000). Transfer credits from a master's program are evaluated by a graduate advisor, with a 30-credit maximum allowance.
