The Department of Political Science collaborates with the School of Law to provide a combined program allowing students to obtain both J.D. and M.P.A. degrees in about four years of intensive study. The curriculum begins with one year of law studies, followed by three years in the dual degree track. This integrated approach requires only 108 credit hours across public administration and law courses, compared to the 129 hours plus an internship needed when pursuing each degree independently. Applicants must gain approval from both the School of Law and the Graduate School. The M.P.A. program mandates a minimum completion time of 12 months. Enrollment at Texas Tech University Law School is required, with applications for the JD/MPA dual degree program accepted during a student's second semester of law studies.
