The School of Art provides an on-campus Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program specializing in Painting. This intensive three-year curriculum requires at least 60 credit hours and features personalized faculty guidance, art history and critical theory coursework, and collaborative engagement with fellow graduate students. Our Painting instructors cultivate an environment of constructive feedback, academic rigor, and professional camaraderie. The program highlights the evolving nature of modern painting, viewing artworks as dynamic spaces for spatial, temporal, physical, and conceptual interactions with significant cultural relevance. We encourage analytical approaches and innovative exploration among our MFA candidates. Students may optionally pursue a complementary studio focus (such as Sculpture or Printmaking) to broaden their artistic perspective. The program concludes with each MFA candidate presenting a written thesis, public presentation, and final exhibition to faculty, peers, and the wider community.
