The program coordinator for each certificate, working alongside the graduate studies director, will create and outline a customized curriculum for every participant. Credits completed for the certificate may be applied toward an advanced degree if students choose to continue their education. These graduate certificates are designed to fulfill the continuing education requirements of working professionals. A graduate certificate consists of a focused course sequence delivering specialized expertise in a particular field. This structured curriculum builds a solid foundation of knowledge. Applicants to a graduate certificate program will be enrolled with a GCRT classification. Enrollment in any graduate-level course requires completion of all prerequisites (including undergraduate requirements) and mastery of essential foundational knowledge. A bachelor's degree is mandatory for admission to a graduate certificate program, with one exception: Texas Tech undergraduates maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher who are within 12 credit hours of completing their bachelor's degree may begin graduate-level coursework toward a certificate. However, the bachelor's degree must be conferred before the graduate certificate can be awarded.
