The Hispanic Linguistics program offers a dynamic academic setting where students can cultivate the expertise needed to excel as professionals in this domain. Students may pursue an M.A., Ph.D., or both degrees. Our M.A. curriculum aims to equip students with thorough understanding of key disciplinary areas through coursework designed to foster critical reading and analytical thinking. For doctoral candidates, we expand upon this foundation by introducing varied theoretical approaches and enabling deeper specialization in a selected research area, culminating in original dissertation work that advances the field.
From the outset of both M.A. and Ph.D. studies, our faculty promotes rigorous scientific inquiry through collaborative initiatives with students and international scholars. These projects explore topics such as Spanish second language acquisition, bilingualism, language contact and variation, as well as linguistic dimensions of digital literacy, technology, and heritage language education. Our faculty distinguishes itself through employing diverse research methods while actively contributing to scholarly development and publication.
