Computer Science (CS) encompasses everything from theoretical concepts to practical applications and groundbreaking innovations. CS educates graduates about emerging technologies and novel concepts while serving as a springboard for diverse computing careers. Professionals in this field develop software and devise optimal solutions for real-world challenges across domains like robotics, computer vision enhancement, and digital investigations. Demand for skilled computing experts and leaders within the U.S. continues rising as businesses expand globally. Nearly every significant global issue now relies on computing for answers - whether combating illnesses, addressing food scarcity, enhancing learning systems, or safeguarding ecosystems. The Mathematics and Statistics Department collaborates with Computer Science to provide a 162-credit dual degree program combining mathematics and computer science. This five-year curriculum results in two degrees: a B.S. in Mathematics with a computer science minor from Arts & Sciences, plus a B.S. in Computer Science from Whitacre College of Engineering. Prospective students should meet with advisors from both colleges and can designate either as their primary institution. For detailed course requirements, refer to the Computer Science Department's catalog section.
