The Bachelor of Arts in Art with a studio art focus gives School of Art students a liberal arts education in visual arts, delivering a wider scope of artistic and academic exploration compared to the Bachelor of Fine Arts. Students choose studio art classes with faculty input, culminating in a final project—which may be a research paper, creative work, or exhibition. This capstone allows students to integrate their knowledge, revealing connections across disciplines. The program enables personalized study by incorporating electives for a minor outside the major field, enhancing studio coursework while aligning with the university's liberal arts principles. This 120-hour, four-year program includes 46 credits in studio art and art history, 9 interdisciplinary credits from other Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts departments (music, theater, or dance), 18 credits in an external minor (potentially interdisciplinary), and 44-54 general education credits as determined by the advisor and college.
