To earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art with an art history concentration, students need to fulfill 22 credit hours in Art Foundations, complete 30 hours of advanced art history courses (with advisor approval, including at least 24 residency hours and a Senior Thesis in Art History), pursue an external minor, achieve second-year foreign language proficiency, and meet the College of Visual & Performing Arts' B.A. core requirements. This art history specialization demands 120 total credit hours, with at least 39 dedicated to art history courses.

Following three introductory art history surveys (9 credit hours) in Art Foundations, students broaden their knowledge by choosing seven upper-level art history classes (21 credit hours), ensuring coverage across at least five of these areas: Medieval art, Renaissance/Baroque art, Latinx/Latin American art, 18th-19th century European/American art, and Modern/Contemporary European/American art. Before their final semester, students must complete 6 additional credit hours in a specialization area to prepare for their 3-credit senior thesis. The program culminates with thesis research presented at the Undergraduate Art History Symposium.

Art history majors must complete either a standard 18-hour minor outside their discipline or an approved 18-hour interdisciplinary research minor (approved by both the art history advisor and the College of Visual & Performing Arts associate dean) that complements their art history specialization.
