The Department of Anthropology at Texas State equips M.A. students for their professional journeys. Our graduate students actively participate in field schools and internships, partner with faculty on research initiatives, engage in applied projects alongside professionals, showcase their findings at conferences, and contribute to scholarly publications.
At TXST Anthropology, we're breaking down barriers - whether geographical, academic, or professional - that traditionally separate anthropologists. Our approach combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, public engagement, and innovative methods to create meaningful change beyond our discipline. The M.A. program's goal is to develop skilled, professional anthropologists prepared for contemporary challenges. Students can specialize in archaeology, biological anthropology, or cultural anthropology.

Career Paths:
Our alumni have built successful careers across diverse sectors including corporate environments, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Many have also pursued and completed advanced degrees at prestigious doctoral programs.
