The M.Acy. program holds accreditation from AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, a mark of excellence in business education for over 100 years. At the McCoy College of Business Department of Accounting, we focus on equipping our diverse student body for professional achievement in today's dynamic global marketplace. Our Master of Accountancy (M.Acy.) program enhances students' knowledge for careers in public accounting while examining how accounting information impacts decision-makers through social, ethical, and environmental lenses. This program fulfills Texas's 150-hour CPA exam requirement and welcomes students from all undergraduate backgrounds.

Graduates pursue diverse roles such as: auditing, taxation, forensic accounting, or consulting in public accounting firms; internal auditing, financial control, analysis, or executive finance positions in corporations; government roles including IRS or FBI agents and defense auditors; as well as opportunities in nonprofit organizations and academic accounting.

Qualification Requirements

baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited university
official transcripts from each institution where course credit was granted
a competitive GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work (plus any completed graduate courses).

resume/CV detailing work experience, extracurricular and community activities, and honors and achievements
two forms of recommendation from persons best able to assess the student's ability to succeed in graduate school.

A GRE or GMAT waiver and essay waiver may be available for Texas State accounting undergraduate applicants who have-
earned a minimum of a 3.2 GPA or higher in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work, and
earned a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher in upper-level accounting courses, and
provided at least two reference forms from Texas State faculty.


IELTS (academic) - overall scores required 6.5 and minimum individual module scores of 6.0

TOEFL iBT - overall scores required with a 78 overall and minimum individual module scores of (19 listening, 19 reading, 19 speaking, 18 writing)
