The Ingram School of Engineering introduces a groundbreaking doctoral program: the Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Developed through collaboration with leading industries, this curriculum empowers students to merge theoretical civil engineering concepts with technological innovation and business savvy.
This pioneering Ph.D. program emphasizes leadership, creative problem-solving, effective communication, and entrepreneurial skills within infrastructure development. As the first of its kind in Texas, it uniquely combines civil engineering fundamentals with technological infrastructure expertise (TEI) and business strategy. The initiative reflects both the growing demand for infrastructure modernization and the university's dedication to pioneering research in this critical field.
Through challenging academic coursework and innovative research projects, the program cultivates autonomous thought leaders in civil engineering and TEI. While maintaining core civil engineering competencies comparable to peer programs, it specifically focuses on implementing advanced technological solutions. Qualification Requirements
baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited university. Non-U.S. degrees must be equivalent to a four-year U.S. Bachelor's degree. In most cases, three-year degrees are not considered. The applicant will be required to complete an additional 24 semester credit hours of master's level courses when admitted.
