HIM curricula equip students for careers in digital healthcare, specializing in health data analysis, information governance, informatics, regulatory compliance, data security, AI applications, and overseeing related technological resources. This field transforms raw data into practical formats like electronic health records (EHRs), which healthcare teams utilize to enhance patient care.
Those earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) pursue careers across diverse healthcare environments and related industries. Opportunities span care delivery organizations including hospitals, outpatient clinics, medical practices, extended care facilities, behavioral health centers, and other ambulatory services. The field has grown substantially beyond clinical settings, with roles emerging in insurance providers, EHR software companies, cybersecurity organizations, consulting firms, government bodies, academic institutions, and pharmaceutical corporations.
