The College of Liberal Arts equips students with the fundamentals of a well-rounded education, empowering them to think critically, make informed choices, ground their decisions in historical and cultural awareness, and lead fulfilling lives. Emphasizing the value of liberal arts, the university mandates that over half of the core curriculum be completed within this college, with growing numbers of students selecting majors or minors from its nine departments and specialized programs.
Anthropology explores the diversity and development of human cultures and biology. This comprehensive field examines all dimensions of human life, focusing on understanding human nature, evolutionary processes, and variations among populations. At Texas State, anthropology encompasses three primary branches: cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and archaeology, with courses available in each specialization.
Students pursuing an Anthropology degree can select between two undergraduate options: the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. Both programs are designed to provide foundational knowledge aligned with faculty-defined learning objectives while offering customizable paths to meet individual aspirations. Degree candidates in either program may engage in departmental field schools or internship opportunities.
