The Department of Theatre and Dance champions equity and inclusive representation that mirrors our student body, fosters community, cultivates empathy, and rejects discrimination. We actively promote social justice by ensuring equal access for every student, free from prejudice based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith, socioeconomic background, or political views. As creative professionals and educators, we pursue meaningful collaboration in our learning environments, rehearsal studios, and performance venues with a steadfast commitment to fair representation and the active inclusion of historically marginalized voices and their artistic legacies.
Our curriculum develops skilled professionals across multiple disciplines - including acting, design, writing, filmmaking, editing, producing, directing, technical production, performance, and choreography - while also training future educators for public schools. Students learn directly from accomplished artist-educators with national and global reputations. Our distinguished faculty includes Broadway performers, television stars, professional dance company members, Tony Award-winning regional theater veterans, acclaimed filmmakers, musical choreographers, internationally exhibited designers, Cannes and SXSW featured creators, published authors, and playwrights with productions in New York and worldwide. We maintain an ideal balance - offering comprehensive resources through expert faculty while ensuring individualized student attention. This course delivers practical, professional experience in theater or film production and may be taken twice for credit.
