The Exercise & Sports Science (ESS) bachelor's program offers two majors: Health & Fitness Management (HFM) and ESS with three specialization tracks—Pre-Rehabilitation Sciences, Clinical Exercise Science, and All-Level Physical Education Certification. This program equips students to oversee fitness, wellness, and health initiatives across corporate, commercial, and institutional environments. It's particularly suitable for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to establish or manage fitness centers, wellness brands, or related organizations. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in ESS, qualifying them for roles such as cardiac rehab specialists, exercise physiologists, rehabilitation therapists, fitness trainers, K-12 physical education teachers, and sports coaches. The HFM major specifically trains students to lead health promotion programs, covering topics like exercise prescription, stress reduction techniques, tobacco cessation, nutritional counseling, health assessments, and workplace wellness initiatives. The curriculum also provides foundational knowledge for earning professional credentials (CHES, CES, ACSM, NCSA) and meeting graduate school requirements for allied health fields like physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, and nursing.
Professional Pathways
Graduates are qualified to coordinate health promotion programs in various organizational settings or pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the fitness industry. Alumni also find employment as facility administrators, sales representatives, or operations managers for sports and wellness centers.
