The graduate program in the Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness and Environmental Sciences aims to equip students with a strong grounding in agricultural sciences, natural resource management, and theoretical principles. The department focuses on fostering innovation through research, cultivating critical thinking skills in graduate students, and preparing them to thrive in a dynamic economic landscape.
The department offers three Master of Science degree specializations: Agriculture Science (AGSC), Environmental Systems Management (ENVS), and Plant & Soil Science (PLSS). Each specialization provides three M.S. pathway choices (Plan I-thesis, Plan II-graduate project, Plan III-coursework). Plan I thesis degrees mandate 30 total credit hours, including 18 in the major field, while Plan II and III require 36 total hours with 24 in the primary discipline.
For the 36-hour Agriculture Science (AGSC) graduate program and Course Only options, students must complete 24 credit hours from departmental offerings (AGRI, AGSC, AGBU, PLSS, ENVS). Any course within the Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Environmental Sciences fulfills the 24-hour major requirement for the general AGSC degree under the 36-hour program option.
