The department's curriculum equips students with fundamental knowledge in both basic and applied Rangeland and Wildlife Management (RWSC). Our program fosters creative thinking and communication abilities essential for professional achievement. Graduates completing the recommended RWSC coursework can earn certification as an Associate Wildlife Biologist from The Wildlife Society and as a Rangeland Specialist through the Society for Range Management.
Our program combines theoretical classroom instruction with practical field experience. Wildlife students gain hands-on learning opportunities at the South Pasture Wildlife Research Area, a specialized wildlife management and research facility located south of Kingsville, Texas. Faculty members actively engage in research, ensuring students receive current, cutting-edge knowledge in range and wildlife sciences.
Program evaluation includes comprehensive testing for undergraduates upon entry and during their final semester. Additionally, the department chair conducts exit interviews with graduating seniors to gather feedback about program strengths, areas for improvement, and future needs. These assessment results drive continuous enhancements to our undergraduate education offerings.
