Agriculture, livestock management, and responsible conservation of natural resources form the core of South Texas's agricultural education programs. The Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Environmental Sciences equips students for dynamic careers in business, education, and natural resource management within the agricultural sector. Students develop skills to tackle modern challenges and emerge as decision-makers for both present and future agricultural management needs.

Thanks to Texas A&M University-Kingsville's innovative research initiatives, students benefit from resources and guidance at the prestigious Citrus Center in Weslaco. Breakthroughs in horticulture research conducted at this facility position it as a pioneer in advancing the Lower Rio Grande Valley's vital citrus sector. Notable achievements from the Citrus Center include developing the Rio Red and Star Ruby grapefruit varieties.

Students gain exposure to cutting-edge developments and technologies through practical, field-specific training. All enrolled students can access learning opportunities in laboratories, greenhouses, and the University Farm. Leveraging our rural setting, we offer a distinctive educational approach focused on communication, analytical skills, solution-finding, leadership development, and research - preparing graduates to excel as industry leaders.
