The Bachelor of General Studies offers students the flexibility to explore personal academic interests outside conventional degree programs. This program provides essential liberal arts competencies—including writing, analytical reasoning, leadership, collaborative skills, and problem-solving—while enabling specialization across various university disciplines.
General Studies majors must complete at least 18 credits in two distinct subject fields, with 9 credits at the upper-division level in each. Additionally, they must fulfill the College of Arts and Science's mandate of 36 total upper-division hours. While students may choose disciplines from any college, all 18 credits within a subject must share the same four-letter course prefix. A 2.0 GPA minimum is required for each concentration area.
