The Political Science curriculum covers an extensive spectrum of research on political systems and their operations across local, state, national, and global contexts. Examining our political structures provides valuable insights into societal values and collective identity. Grasping these systems significantly enhances our capacity for meaningful civic engagement and optimal utilization of governmental frameworks.

This academic program provides diverse course offerings across multiple disciplines, culminating in a Bachelor's Degree. Study areas encompass American Government systems, Public Policy & Administration, Political Theory, Global Comparative Politics, International Affairs, and Constitutional Law. Political Science education has served as a gateway to professional opportunities in both governmental and corporate spheres. Graduates frequently secure roles as policymakers, academic administrators, or apply their expertise to enhance corporate operations in global commerce and finance. Many Political Science students continue their education through advanced degrees in public policy, global affairs, social sciences, education, or legal studies.

At TAMUK, Political Science students complete an undergraduate curriculum resulting in a Bachelor of Arts degree. This pathway is particularly suited for those aiming to enter graduate programs, law school, or begin professional careers in government or industry immediately after graduation.

The department additionally provides a Political Science minor option. Several specialized courses also complement TAMUK's Criminology major and Urban Studies minor programs.
