The chemistry department aims to deliver an exceptional academic program for chemistry majors, equipping them for careers in industry or government, advanced graduate studies, or admission to medical and dental schools. The curriculum also serves those intending to teach chemistry or physics in secondary education (grades 7-12) or requiring foundational chemical knowledge for scientific pursuits. Graduates will exhibit comprehensive mastery of chemical principles, demonstrate analytical skills in interpreting chemical data, and effectively communicate scientific information through oral presentations and written work using appropriate technological tools. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry can choose from four specialized tracks: General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Physical Science Education. The biochemistry track is particularly suitable for pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, and pre-veterinary students, while also providing an optional pathway for clinical chemistry certification alongside the chemistry degree.
