The chemistry department aims to deliver an exceptional academic program for chemistry majors, preparing them for careers in industry or government, advanced graduate studies, or admission to medical and dental schools. The curriculum also serves those intending to teach chemistry or physics in secondary education (grades 7-12) or requiring foundational chemical knowledge for scientific pursuits. Graduates will exhibit comprehensive mastery of chemical principles, demonstrate analytical skills in interpreting chemical data, and effectively communicate scientific information through both oral presentations and written work using appropriate technological tools. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry can choose from four specialized tracks: General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physical Science Education. The biochemistry track is particularly suitable for pre-professional students in medical, dental, optometry, pharmacy, or veterinary fields, while also offering an optional clinical chemistry certification pathway alongside the degree.
