Our program provides performance experiences through diverse ensembles available to all university students, such as the university orchestra, symphonic band, concert band, pep band, jazz ensemble, university choir, Camerata Isla (chamber choir), and Corpus Christi Chorale. Music majors can also join chamber groups including string quartets, woodwind/brass ensembles, percussion groups, and guitar ensembles. As an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, we offer three undergraduate music degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Music (with Music Industry or Music Studies tracks), Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification, and Bachelor of Music in Performance. Additionally, students can pursue a general Music Performance minor or a Music Industry minor focusing on recording technology and music business.
The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Music Department aims to cultivate students' musical perception, artistic appreciation, and analytical abilities. We foster this growth in a supportive, student-focused setting where faculty and students collaborate to: Prepare music majors for professional careers in education, teaching, industry, and performance, Offer music courses that introduce fundamental skills, musical styles, historical contexts, and community music roles while enabling live performance participation, Inspire students to appreciate music as an art form and pursue creative growth through study and performance, and Enhance community cultural life through public concerts, recitals, and faculty/student musical engagements.
