The Departments of Economics and International Affairs provide a dual-degree program allowing students to earn both a Master of Science in Economics (MS-ECON) and a Master of International Affairs (MIA) within three years. This intensive program delivers advanced instruction in economic theory, econometrics, quantitative analysis, international relations, global markets, U.S. foreign policy, and research methodologies. Aspiring leaders will gain the expertise needed for professional roles across corporate, governmental, nonprofit, and public sectors. The structured curriculum enables completion of both degrees' requirements (typically four years total) in an accelerated timeframe. The 66-credit program comprises: 30 core MS-ECON credits plus 6 shared elective credits, and 36 core MIA credits plus 12 shared elective credits, with no more than 12 credits counting toward both degrees. Students initiate the MS-ECON in their first year, commence MIA coursework in their second year, and conclude with Capstone projects and remaining requirements in their final year. The MIA language proficiency requirement remains mandatory. Should a student withdraw from one degree track, the remaining degree's requirements revert to standard single-degree specifications.
