Students enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Oral & Craniofacial Biomedical Sciences within the Department of Biomedical Sciences gain expertise across diverse areas including Craniofacial development and genetics, Bioengineering and tissue regeneration, Mineralized tissue biology, as well as Neuroscience and pain research. Their education encompasses in-depth exploration of cellular and molecular processes, experimental methodologies, and clinical investigations related to development, growth, aging, function, disorders, and therapeutic approaches. The doctoral program aims to equip candidates with comprehensive knowledge of their specialized field and rigorous research training. Awarding the Ph.D. degree requires demonstrated command of a wide academic discipline and proven capacity for autonomous research. Candidates must also develop proficiency in articulating ideas effectively through both spoken and written communication.
You are an international graduate applicant if you:
are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (or applicant for permanent residency)
AND
you have not graduated from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas
AND
hold a bachelor’s or professional degree (or equivalent)
English proficiency can also be demonstrated by:
a minimum TOEFL score (from a test date within two years) of 80 internet-based testing (i-BT)
a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band
a minimum PTE Academic score of 53
a GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (subject to departmental approval)
a GMAT Verbal Score of at least 22 (subject to departmental approval)
