The Turfgrass Science program is overseen by the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences. This curriculum equips students with core scientific principles to comprehend key resources—turfgrass, soil, and water—and how they interact across various environments. Core courses establish fundamental knowledge, while electives (such as ornamental horticulture, plant protection, business, and landscape architecture) allow customization based on each student's goals and interests.
Graduates pursue careers in: turf management (golf courses, sports fields, public/commercial grounds), agricultural production (turf cultivation, plant genetics), agribusiness (seed distribution, turf equipment, landscaping services), or specialized roles in education, consulting, extension services, and public outreach.
