The 5-year combined Bachelor-Master program offers BS TCMS majors a streamlined path to transition directly into the MA COMM program, enabling them to earn both degrees within five years or less.
Starting each fall, this program requires interested students to apply during their junior year spring semester with at least two remaining undergraduate terms. Admitted students can take one graduate course each semester during their senior year while finishing undergraduate requirements, with the option to count six hours of advanced undergraduate credit toward their master's degree. The MA portion is then completed in two intensive 12-hour semesters. Throughout this journey, students receive guidance from both undergraduate and graduate academic advisors. This accelerated pathway enhances learning opportunities at Texas A&M University by enabling students to explore more advanced coursework and benefit from our department's diverse offerings.
Ideal for students entering with exam credits, dual enrollment, or transfer credits, this program provides valuable extra time for those who might otherwise graduate early. The additional year allows participants to engage in campus organizations, assume leadership roles, pursue meaningful internships, study abroad, collaborate on research projects with faculty and graduate students, and compete for prestigious fellowships or other Texas A&M programs. Earning a Master's degree adds significant value, fostering deeper faculty-student mentoring relationships that often broaden academic perspectives and career possibilities.
