The Department of Oceanography provides an accelerated 5-year dual degree program, enabling Bachelor of Science in Oceanography students to begin the Master of Ocean Science and Technology during their fourth year at Texas A&M University. This pathway allows students to earn both their undergraduate BS in Oceanography and graduate MOST degree within five years.
The Oceanography BS program: 1) Delivers comprehensive knowledge about marine systems and processes for careers in ocean science and related fields, 2) Equips students with techniques to access, assess, and interpret extensive oceanographic data from long-term studies and monitoring systems, and 3) Fosters analytical reasoning and solution-oriented skills.
The non-thesis MOST degree offers advanced training from leading ocean scientists conducting pioneering research across global marine environments, from the Gulf of Mexico to Antarctic waters.
This graduate program aims to: 1) Establish fundamental oceanographic principles applicable to professional marine science careers, 2) Develop competencies for processing and interpreting large-scale ocean observation datasets, and 3) Enhance systematic problem-solving abilities.
