Genetics stands as one of the most dynamic and fast-growing fields within the life sciences. Beyond being a standalone subject, it now serves as a foundational element for comprehending numerous facets of medical and agricultural systems, diseases affecting animals and plants, and even behavioral patterns in animals. Advances in molecular genetics have yielded biotechnologies poised to significantly impact our lives—from enhancing human disease diagnostics to cultivating virus-resistant crops and addressing environmental remediation.
The undergraduate genetics program enables exploration of various genetic disciplines, such as population genetics, human genetics, and genetic modification. Designed to cultivate essential knowledge and skills, the genetics major prepares students for advanced studies across life science domains, ranging from medical/veterinary fields to genetic engineering. This core science program also offers sufficient adaptability to equip students for diverse career paths including forensic science, healthcare, business, or legal professions.
