The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Electrical engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and overseeing the production of complex electrical and electronic systems, including cell phones, iPods, digital TVs, medical imaging devices, smart appliances, automobiles, and advanced satellite systems. Many also work in computer-related fields. Specializations include analog and mixed-signal electronics, biomedical imaging, sensing and genomic signal processing, computer engineering and systems, device science and nanotechnology, energy and power, electromagnetics and microwaves, and information science and systems.
The electrical engineering bachelor's degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. This accreditation assures students, parents, employers, and society that the program meets high-quality standards, preparing graduates to join the global workforce.
Program Educational Objectives
The electrical engineering program aims to produce graduates who, within a few years of graduation, achieve the following:
Graduates entering industry or government roles will become effective and valued electrical engineers.
Those pursuing advanced degrees will gain admission to and excel in leading graduate programs.
Graduates will lead and collaborate effectively in diverse teams, fostering varied perspectives to develop, communicate, and implement solutions across multiple electrical engineering fields.
In line with the Aggie Engineer tradition, graduates will achieve leadership positions in their professional careers.
You are an international freshman if you:
are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or
are not graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas and
are a student without college credit or
earned college credit prior to high school graduation (dual credit/early college high school)
English proficiency can also be demonstrated by:
Minimum TOEFL i-BT score of 80
Minimum TOEFL Essentials score of 8.5
Minimum IELTS Academic test score of 6.0 overall band (Texas A&M University does not accept the IELTS General test)
