The Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematical Sciences with a Biological Sciences focus teaches students to use mathematical problem-solving approaches for biological, medical, and environmental challenges. Those choosing the Biological Sciences track study both theoretical and practical mathematical methods while taking science electives that illustrate how mathematics represents life science processes.
Graduates of this program gain qualifications for careers applying mathematics to life sciences. The curriculum also meets medical school prerequisites, making it ideal for pre-med students seeking a mathematics-based education. By selecting suitable electives, graduates can pursue advanced quantitative studies, including doctoral programs in Applied Mathematics or Mathematics. A biology minor complements this program well. Academic guidance for this degree path is provided by the Mathematics Department's Undergraduate Program Office.
