The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages (MODL) cultivates and strengthens students' global awareness and intercultural skills. Learners can select French, German, or Russian as their primary focus. The curriculum provides in-depth exploration of linguistic proficiency, literary works, socio-historical contexts, and cultural traditions within these language groups.
Beyond classroom instruction, the department facilitates summer study abroad opportunities for academic credit. Faculty advisors collaborate with students to align their academic goals with semester or year-long international programs. Integrating language proficiency with complementary disciplines improves career readiness across business, public service, education, and non-profit fields.
Completion of all introductory and intermediate courses (100-200 level) is mandatory, either through coursework or placement examination. After earning credit for an advanced language course, students cannot retroactively receive credit for its prerequisite classes.
