The Bachelor of Arts in Communication program focuses on mastering the art of influencing and convincing others using language, visuals, and various media formats. This interdisciplinary major provides a comprehensive liberal arts education, incorporating courses from throughout the College of Arts and Sciences and across Texas A&M University. Communication students gain both theoretical knowledge about communication processes and practical skills highly sought after in professional settings.
First-year students start with a specialized introductory semester that explores the wide-ranging Communication and Media disciplines while connecting them with small peer groups and familiarizing them with Texas A&M's resources and opportunities. The program also supports Transfer students by helping them transition smoothly into the Communication community. All majors complete essential core courses that build fundamental expertise before selecting specialized electives aligned with their career goals. For more concentrated study, students can pursue certificates in areas like Health Communication, Strategic Communication, Leadership and Conflict Resolution, Global Media, Social Media, or Diversity and Social Justice.
You are an international freshman if you:
are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or
are not graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas and
are a student without college credit or
earned college credit prior to high school graduation (dual credit/early college high school)
English proficiency can also be demonstrated by:
Minimum TOEFL i-BT score of 80
Minimum TOEFL Essentials score of 8.5
Minimum IELTS Academic test score of 6.0 overall band (Texas A&M University does not accept the IELTS General test)
