Earning a Biology degree with teaching certification involves completing 122 semester hours, including 43 credits of general education (9 in Communication, 9 in Humanities and Fine Arts, 6 in Social/Behavioral Sciences, 3 in Mathematics, 6 in History, 8 in Natural Sciences, and 1 in University Orientation), 59 credits in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, plus 21 credits in Education courses. Physics requires MATH 1720 or above. Biology courses require a minimum grade of C to count toward degree requirements.
Teacher Education/Blocked courses are mandatory and available exclusively during specified semesters in the Junior and Senior years.
Admission to the Teacher Education program after sophomore year is required before Teacher Licensure Candidates can enroll in professional education courses.
