Temple's College of Public Health offers a Master of Science in Kinesiology that equips students for doctoral studies or research-oriented careers examining human movement. This program features two specialized tracks: Integrative Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training. The Athletic Training graduate program at Temple University's Department of Kinesiology aims to enhance certified athletic trainers' practical expertise, advance the field's knowledge base, and share innovative findings. Note that this program doesn't qualify graduates for the Board of Certification exam. Those seeking athletic trainer certification should explore the Master of Science in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.) program instead.

The Athletic Training concentration exclusively accepts currently certified athletic trainers or students in accredited professional AT programs. Prospective students without certification should apply to our Master of Science in Athletic Training program. This research-intensive Athletic Training specialization develops students' ability to assess scientific literature and produce original research contributions. Designed for practicing athletic trainers, the curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice and advanced experiential learning to advance professional growth.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: The post-professional graduate Athletic Training program at Temple University is a CAATE-accredited graduate program that is designed to accommodate both BOC-certified athletic trainers and BOC certification eligible athletic trainers (i.e., those who graduated from an accredited undergraduate athletic training program). All applicants must present credentials that are the equivalent of the athletic training professional entry-level degree.

Statement of Goals: A statement of one to two pages should be clearly written.

Standardized Test Scores:
GRE/MAT: Required. Scores of 150 each are preferred on the verbal and quantitative sections. Occasionally, students with lower totals are accepted if undergraduate work and/or other life experiences suggest a high degree of probability of success in the graduate program. These scores must be reported directly through ATCAS.

Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master's degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums:

TOEFL iBT: 79
IELTS Academic: 6.5
550 on the paper-based (PBT)

The minimum admissions standard for all graduate students is ordinarily an undergraduate grade point average of B or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the functional equivalent for students who have attended universities outside of the United States.

Interview: An interview is scheduled at a mutually convenient time between the faculty interviewer(s) and the applicant. Master's applicants interview by telephone or video chat.

Resume: Current resume required.
